Journal Assignment: Misjudged Experience

In this journal, you will describe a time when someone was misjudged in hiring or at work and think about what could make the situation fairer.

  • What happened (brief story).
  • How you or the other person were judged at first.
  • What barrier or bias was present (for example: accent, age, documents, experience).
  • What helped or what could have helped make it more fair.

Aim for 5–8 sentences. Try to use at least two new words such as: bias, stereotype, expectation, assertive, perception, misjudge.ple: In some workplaces, people say you must speak “perfect” English, but in others they focus on clear communication and respect, even if you have an accent.

This is not a grammar test. Focus on the ideas and your honest reflection. When you are ready, write your journal entry in the space below.
