Audio Assignment – Personalized Interview Dialogue
Milestone 5 · Lesson B
Audio Assignment – Personalized Interview Dialogue
Suggested time: 15–20 minutes
In this assignment, you will personalize the model dialogue and record yourself answering the interview question “Tell me about yourself.” This is a safe rehearsal step before real mock interviews.
What you will do
- Step 1: Personalize the dialogue with your own background, skills, and next step.
- Step 2: Practice saying your dialogue out loud.
- Step 3: Record your answer and submit the audio file.
Your goal is to be clear, professional, and confident.
Step 1 – Personalize the dialogue
Start from this simple model answer and replace the underlined parts with your own information.
“Thank you for having me. My name is Yasir, and I have about four years of experience working in customer support at an international software company.”
“Most of my work has been helping customers by email and live chat, tracking their issues, and working with the technical team.”
“In my last role, for example, I helped reduce our average response time by about twenty percent by organizing common questions and creating guides for the team.”
“Now, I am looking for a customer-facing role where I can use my experience to support users, improve small processes, and grow in a cross-cultural team.”
Level A – Sentence frames you can use
Use these frames and fill in the blanks with your own information.
- “Thank you for having me. My name is [your name], and I have about [number of years] of experience working in [your field or type of work].”
- “Most of my work has been [your main tasks or responsibilities].”
- “In my last role, for example, I [one result or achievement you are proud of].”
- “Now, I am looking for a [type of role] where I can [how you want to use your skills and grow].”
Level B – Open personalization
Write your own four-part answer using your bio and experience:
- Background – Who you are and your experience.
- Skills – What you usually do at work.
- Achievement – One clear result or success.
- Next step – What you are looking for now.
Keep your answer around 30–45 seconds when spoken.
Step 2 – Practice saying your answer out loud
Read your personalized dialogue out loud 2–3 times before you record.
- Speak a little slower than normal conversation.
- Pause briefly after each part: background, skills, achievement, next step.
- Smile slightly while speaking; it helps your voice sound more positive.
If you get stuck, you can look at your text. This is practice, not a test.
Step 3 – Record and submit your audio
When you feel ready, record yourself answering “Tell me about yourself” using your personalized dialogue.
- Use your phone, computer, or TalentLMS recording tool to record your answer (30–60 seconds).
- Listen to your recording one time.
- Upload the audio file to this assignment. Common formats: MP3, M4A, WAV.
Checklist before you submit
Use this checklist to review your recording.
Checklist:
- I say my name and describe my background.
- I mention my main skills or tasks at work.
- I share one achievement or result.
- I say what kind of role I am looking for next.
- My voice is clear and not too fast.
- My answer is about 30–60 seconds long.
