Plan Your Interview Answers – Mock Interview Prep Sheet

Suggested time: 20–25 minutes
In this unit, you will complete your Mock Interview Preparation Sheet. You will use this prep sheet in your live mock interviews and in future mentoring or real interviews.
Important: Use short bullet notes, not full scripts. This is a planning tool to support you, not something you need to memorize.

Click the button below to open the Mock Interview Preparation Sheet. It will ask you to make your own copy in Google Docs.

When the document opens:

  • Click “Make a copy.”
  • Rename the file with your name (for example: Mock Interview Prep – Amira).
  • Save it in a folder you can find easily.

In your copy of the prep sheet, fill in the sections using short bullet notes. You do not need full sentences or perfect grammar here.

The prep sheet will guide you through:

  • Your final professional bio (interview version)
  • “Why this job / program?”
  • “Tell me about a time you solved a problem” (mini-STAR)
  • “Tell me about a time you worked in a team” or another key question
  • “What is one of your strengths?”
  • Your “power language” bank (verbs, adjectives, and phrases you want to use)

Remember: this sheet is for you. It is okay if there are small mistakes. The goal is to make your ideas clear and easy to use in an interview.

Before you submit your prep sheet, use this checklist. This is the same type of checklist Maria uses for writing assignments in Skillforce.

  • Content & structure: Did I follow the suggested patterns (bio parts, “Why this job?” pattern, mini-STAR for problem solving, etc.)?
  • Specificity: Did I include at least one specific example (not only general statements like “I work hard” or “I like teamwork”)?
  • Accuracy: Is the information true and accurate about my experience, skills, and goals?
  • Professional tone: Does my language sound respectful and professional (no slang, no negative comments about past jobs or people)?
  • Clarity & length: Are my notes short and clear enough that future-me can quickly turn them into spoken answers of about 30–60 seconds?

Focus on clear ideas and real examples. You can always improve the language later.

Step 4 – Save your prep sheet and submit

When your prep sheet is ready:

  1. Check that your name is in the document title.
  2. Make sure all sections have at least a few bullet notes.
  3. Download your prep sheet as a PDF or shareable link (depending on the instructions on this page).
  4. Upload the file or paste the link into this assignment in TalentLMS.

Your instructor will review your prep sheet and use it to prepare for your live mock interview.

Mindset reminder

It is okay to make mistakes here. This sheet is a tool to reduce stress in interviews, not increase it.

By completing this prep sheet, you are:

  • Organizing your ideas in a clear structure
  • Choosing real examples that show your skills
  • Getting ready to speak with more confidence in English

Bring this prep sheet with you to your mock interview so you can use it as support when you speak.
