Brand Yourself – Your Professional Introduction

Approximate time for this lesson: 90–120 minutes (today you start with a 5–7 minute welcome).

In your recent live session with Maria, you:

  • Created a professional timeline of your main roles, studies, and experiences.
  • Wrote a third-person professional bio (for example: “Ruaa is a public health professional…”).
  • Practiced using clear, specific language to describe your work and achievements.

This means you already have the raw material for a strong professional introduction. In this milestone, we will polish and transform it so it is ready to use in real interviews and networking.

In Milestone 5, you will:

  • Review and improve your existing professional bio for clarity, grammar, and professional tone.
  • Convert your third-person bio into a first-person version you can say naturally in interviews (for example: “I am a public health professional…”).
  • Learn and practice professional vocabulary that makes your story more specific and impactful.
  • Read your bio aloud, record yourself, and notice your pace, pronunciation, and confidence.
  • Prepare a short, interview-ready introduction that you can use in mock interviews, mentoring, LinkedIn, and real job conversations.

Our focus here is not just “having a text.” Our focus is helping you say your story clearly, in accurate and confident English, when someone asks: “Tell me about yourself.”

This online lesson is directly connected to your in-person work:

  • Your updated bio will be used in future mentoring conversations.
  • Your first-person introduction will be the base for your mock interviews in Lesson C.
  • The words and sentences you practice here will help you speak more clearly in real interviews.

Please keep your original bio document open or nearby. You will use it in the next activities.

In the next screens, you will:

  • Review a short reminder of what a personal brand is and why it matters for hiring.
  • Look again at the main parts of a strong professional bio.
  • Start revising your own bio step by step, before moving on to speaking and interview practice.

Suggested time for this welcome screen: about 5–7 minutes. When you are ready, move on to the next activity.
