As you listen, pay attention to how the speaker:
How to complete this assignment
- Open your final 4–8 sentence professional bio from the previous assignment.
- Practice reading it out loud 1–2 times so you feel comfortable.
- Use the Record audio button in this assignment, or your own device, to record yourself reading your bio clearly from start to finish.
- Listen to your recording one time to make sure your voice is clear and the volume is strong enough.
- Submit the audio file in this assignment.
It is normal to feel nervous. Imagine you are speaking to a respectful, curious employer who wants to understand your strengths.
Quick checklist before you submit
Before you click “Submit”, check that your recording shows:
☐ Complete bio – You read all 4–8 sentences from start to finish.
☐ Clarity – Your words are easy to hear and understand.
☐ Pace – You do not rush. You leave short, natural pauses between sentences.
☐ Pronunciation & accuracy – Most words are pronounced correctly and match the written bio.
☐ Professional tone – Your voice sounds respectful and confident, as if speaking to an employer or mentor.
☐ Power words – You include at least one strong adjective or verb from this milestone (for example: organized, proactive, resolve, support, coordinate).
Your instructor will use this checklist when listening to your recording and giving you feedback.
How your recording will be reviewed
Feedback will focus on a few high-impact areas:
- Content: You use your full bio (4–8 sentences) and include background, skills, one achievement, and your next step.
- Clarity and pace: Your speech is clear enough to follow without reading the text, and your pace is comfortable.
- Language accuracy: Most sentences are grammatically correct and match your written bio (tense, articles, sentence completeness).
- Professional tone: You sound respectful and engaged, not flat or rushed.
- Vocabulary use: You try at least one “power” adjective or verb from this milestone to describe your work or impact.
This assignment is part of your practice. Your bio and your speaking will continue to improve with feedback and repetition.
If the recorder does not work
If you cannot record directly in the platform, you can:
- Use your phone or computer voice recorder to save an audio file, then upload the file here, or
- If upload still fails, write a short note in the text box explaining what happened and confirm that you practiced reading your bio out loud at least twice.
Technical problems will not affect your progress if you clearly explain the issue and still complete the speaking practice.
