Complete your résumé draft and self-review

Use all the work you have done so far to create a complete résumé draft, then review it with a simple checklist. This is a working document we will improve together in Lesson C.

Assignment goal: Create and submit a complete, working résumé draft using either your own template or the course résumé template. Then complete the self-review checklist to prepare for feedback in Lesson C.

  • Contact information (name, email, phone, city/country).
  • Professional Summary (from Lesson A/B, updated if needed).
  • Skills list that matches the kind of work you want.
  • At least one Experience entry with 2–4 STAR-style bullet points.
  • Education (school, program, dates or “in progress”).
  • Optional extras: languages, tools/technology, volunteer work, or projects.

You can use a template you already have or start from the Skillforce Google template. Choose the option that feels easiest for you.

  1. Make a fresh copy so you can safely edit it for this course.
  2. Open the résumé file or template you already use or like.
  3. Use your résumé map, Professional Summary, and STAR bullets to fill each section.
  1. Click: open the résumé template and make your own copy
  2. When the page opens, select “Make a copy.”
  3. Rename the file with your name (for example: “Résumé – [Your Name]”).
  4. Fill in each section using your résumé map, summary, and STAR bullets.
  5. When finished, download your résumé as a PDF or Word document so you can upload it here.

Bring together everything you created in earlier lessons:

  • Your résumé map (overall plan and sections).
  • Your Professional Summary from Lesson A/B.
  • Your STAR-based bullet points for your experience.
  • Your experience entry from the previous lesson.

Add any missing details (dates, locations, program names, job titles) so each section feels complete and easy to understand.

Before you upload, quickly review your résumé using this checklist. You can copy these items into your notes or simply think through them as you read your document.

I have contact information on the page.
I have a clear Professional Summary at the top.
I have a Skills section with key skills for my target work.
I have at least one Experience entry with 2–4 bullet points.
I listed my Education (school, program, dates or “in progress”).
Helpful extras (languages, tools, volunteer, projects) are added if relevant.

Most bullet points start with a strong verb (supported, organized, led, trained, helped, etc.).
I can understand each bullet after reading it one time.
Each bullet clearly shows what I did, how I did it, and why it mattered.
My Professional Summary points toward the kind of work I want.

There is enough white space so the page feels clean and readable.
Dates are written in the same format throughout.
Headings and text are easy to scan (not too crowded).
The résumé is about 1–2 pages in length.

Reflection for Lesson C (recommended):

  1. What is one part of your résumé you feel proud of right now?
  2. What is one part of your résumé you most want help with in Lesson C?

You can write your answers in your notes or share them in the comment box when you submit this assignment.

When you are ready:

  • Save your résumé as a PDF or Word document.
  • Use the assignment area below to upload your file in TalentLMS.
  • Optional: In the comment box, share your answer to the reflection questions.

This is a working draft. It is normal if you still want to improve it. In Lesson C, we will focus on polishing your résumé and aligning it even more closely to your target roles.
