Welcome to Milestone 4-Lesson A: Planning Your Résumé
Welcome to Milestone 4: From your story to your résumé
You have already explored your employability story, your transferable skills, and the
barriers you have faced. In this milestone, you will start turning that rich experience into a
clear, professional résumé.
How this connects to your journey so far
In earlier milestones, you:
- Told your employability story and reflected on who you are as a worker.
- Identified transferable skills and strengths you use in different situations.
- Described barriers and turned them into STAR stories that show your actions and results.
Now we begin shaping all of that into a résumé that employers can scan quickly and understand.
What you will do in Lesson A
In this online lesson, you will:
- Look closely at a model résumé and see the main sections.
- Learn what employers often look for first when they read a résumé.
- Collect important information about your own experience in a résumé planning worksheet.
- Write your first draft of a short Professional Summary based on work you already did.
Important: Today is about planning and first drafts. Your résumé will be completed step by step by the end of Milestone 4, not all at once in this lesson.
Quick check-in: How do you feel about résumés?
When you hear the word “résumé”, what feelings come up for you? Curious, nervous, excited, unsure? There are no wrong answers.
You can write your thoughts in your personal journal, or type a few words in the box below just for a quick reflection. This box will not save your answer when you leave the page.
Tip: If you want to keep your reflection, copy it into your own notebook or notes app before moving on.
